Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 20 June 2026 – The World Digital Sports Alliance (WDSA) and the Esports Association of Brunei (ESB) have formalised their cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WDSA General Secretary, Mr. Sebastian Lau, and ESB Secretary General, Mr. Hawaii Yee, on 20 June 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Hung Do Viet, President of the Southeast Asia Esports Federation, and WDSA Marketing Director, Mr. Jeff Lam.
This partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between the two organisations and create meaningful opportunities for the advancement of digital sports. Through the exchange of expertise, talent development, and the adoption of emerging technologies, both parties can contribute to the continued growth and evolution of the global digital sports ecosystem, including in China and Brunei Darussalam.
In his remarks, Mr. Lau commended ESB for its continued efforts in advancing Brunei's esports ecosystem. He noted that ESB has played an important role in nurturing local talent, organising national competitions, strengthening athlete development pathways, and enhancing Brunei's participation in regional and international esports events, contributing to the steady growth and recognition of the country's esports community.
“Following the successful co-hosting of WDSA’s first Digital Esports Forum with the Vietnam National Olympic Committee and the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sport Association (VIRESA) in Hanoi this April, which received strong attention across Southeast Asia, we continue to see strong momentum in the region’s digital sports development. Southeast Asia is emerging as a key growth hub for digital sports, and within this context, ESB has been identified as a strategic focus partner given its efforts to further strengthen its esports ecosystem. WDSA remains committed to prioritising the region and working closely with partners such as ESB to ensure the benefits of digital sports and emerging technologies are shared across communities in both China and Brunei Darussalam,” said Mr. Lau.
WDSA looks forward to continued collaboration with ESB in supporting the development of digital sports in Brunei Darussalam through joint initiatives and sustained engagement.
