Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 20 June 2026 – The World Digital Sports Alliance (WDSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pengurus Besar Esports Indonesia (PBESI), establishing a strategic partnership between WDSA General Secretary, Mr. Sebastian Lau, and PBESI Head of International Affairs, Mr. Eddy Lim Che Chien, on 20 June 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Hung Do Viet, President of the Southeast Asia Esports Federation, and WDSA Marketing Director, Mr. Jeff Lam were in attendance to witness the signing ceremony.
The partnership aims to strengthen collaboration and support the sustainable growth of the electronic and digital sports industry. Under the agreement, both organisations will exchange invitations to participate in international electronic and digital sports events, while also exploring opportunities to jointly organise and host international competitions, development programmes, and industry initiatives in China and Indonesia.
Mr. Lau praised PBESI for its significant contributions to the development of Indonesia’s esports ecosystem. He noted PBESI’s role as the national governing body in building a structured competitive framework across Indonesia, developing talent pathways from grassroots to elite levels, and supporting Indonesian athletes in achieving recognition on the international stage through participation in regional and global esports competitions. He further noted that Indonesia’s broad provincial reach and growing competitive ecosystem have positioned the country as one of the leading esports nations in the region.
“Indonesia is one of the most promising digital sports markets in Asia, supported by its large population, strong growth potential, and a vibrant esports ecosystem. With the strong relationship between Indonesia and China, this partnership with PBESI enables WDSA to further facilitate deeper knowledge exchange and encourage greater participation from Chinese digital sports and technology companies in Indonesia, supporting mutual growth and innovation,” said Mr. Lau.
Mr. Lau further highlighted that digital sports, particularly those driven by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, represent a key strategic focus for WDSA. He emphasised that the partnership would serve as a platform for deeper cooperation between the two organisations, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices, while creating new opportunities for innovation, talent development, and international engagement.
WDSA looks forward to working closely with PBESI through this partnership to strengthen relations and deliver impactful international electronic and digital sports programmes, initiatives, and events that contribute to the advancement of the global digital sports ecosystem.
